I am a fan of The Shield and I am guessing that you are at least familiar with it or you wouldn’t be looking at the box status. Since you are here to resolve to prefer the box region or not, I want to warn you that they have created something that looks like a recount book which has the discs squeezed between the pages. The quandary is that every time you steal a disc out or do it in, the disc is scraping across the surface of the cardboard pages in which it is sandwiched. The book is nice looking so I did give it 3 stars for that reason and of course the series itself is as the other reviewers have mentioned well worth your time if you like the cop genre. If this is the only DVD series you beget, it would examine nice on your coffee table, but if you have a DVD case it is awkward because of the shape and size of the box. I insist they beget these cardboard box position holders to build money or to accept you to bewitch the series in the boxes that you secure with individual seasons. I had the same plight with the complete series of the Wire. I will probably have to buy the DVD’s out of the box region sleeves and assign them in broken-down plastic DVD cases to protect the DVD’s which is an additional expense to assume if you are buying this position to place money. It would be nice if the manufacturers offered alternative (broken-down) packaging as an option without forcing you to rob the series one season at at time for double the label of the box position.

The Shield is one of those shows that rips you in on the first episode and keeps you coming help again and again. I can’t gaze TV on Tuesday nights in the Topple without thinking about The Shield. If you’re a fan of sunless and gritty shows this is the cat’s meow. From the very first episode, you are forced to approach to odds with Detective Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis) the surprisingly likeable anti-hero of the prove. Area in the fictional Barn district of LA, it is based around a base gang-task force unit called the Strike Team.

Season One: The first episode is a gut shot. You use the rest of the season trying to figure out how to like an anti-hero so black you can’t even open to rationalize his harmful actions. The deeply disturbing relationship between Captain Aceveda (Benito Martinez) and Mackey’s Strike Team forms. Best season of the explain, the note and Chiklis definitely earned their Golden Globes. 10/10

Season Two: The second season introduces a wider scope of unpleasant guys for the Strike Team to deal with. It really builds on the anticillary characters and solidifies Mackey’s survival instinct and Shane Vendrell’s (Walton Goggins) bone-headed nature. The actions of the team in this season cast shockwaves that will last through out the course of the series. 9/10

Season Three: A slower season that deals with the conscience of the Strike Team in the aftermath of a major heist. The once tight family disengrates as the members struggle internally with how to handle their actions. Elsewhere in the Barn, Detective Claudette Wyms (CCH Pounder) begins to effect a tustle for reform while Detective “Dutch” Wagenbach (Jay Karnes) takes a disturbing turn into darkness. 8/10

Season Four: With the Strike Team seperated things occupy inviting paths. Strike Team members Lem, Mackey, and Gardocki try to withhold things shapely, while Vendrell and his fresh partner continue the veteran ways. Vendrell doesn’t have the instincts and smarts of Mackey and soon winds up over his head in the exhaust of drug dealer Antwon Mitchell (Anthony Anderson) . Glenn End joins the cast as Captain Monica Rawling. A snappily paced season that leaves you questioning honest who to trust. 9/10

Season Five: In one of the most much seasons, IA agent Jon Kavanaugh (Forest Whitaker) enters the Barn. Tasked with taking down Mackey, Kavanaugh tears the already fractured Strike Team apart with evidence against Lem. Kavanaugh is Mackey’s equal and the two square off constantly to raze each other. The season finale is dismal and disturbing leaving a stout aftermath that shatters the already tenenous Strike Team. 10/10

Season Six: After the events of the season five finale, Vic is on the warpath. With one hand he is vengance hotfoot, on the other he is trying to do his career as brass tries to force him into retirment. Vandrell continues to seperate himself from the rest of the Strike Team as he falls in with the Armenian Mob and struggles with internal guilt. Wyms now promoted to the captain of the Barn is deadset on saving it from itself and all those that stand in its design. 7/10

Season Seven: The final season. Vic peaceful location on vengance finally has a legal target, while Vandrell goes entirely rogue on the lamb. Wyms and Dutch rush against time to finally remove down Mackey, while Gardocki and himself go darker than ever - hunting one of their fill. Season Seven pits Vic against everyone he loves and tests his survival instinct to its core. In the waste, it is a chilling season that should have earned Emmy nods for Michael Chiklis and Walter Goggins. 10/10

The series has its highs and lows, but on a whole remains a noteworthy fragment and one of the best cop shows ever. This a series I’ve watched over and over again in marathon sessions. I owned all but the final season on DVD and have since given them away when word of the complete series finally came around.

This is a must have DVD collection and my accepted TV prove of all time.

I believe myself well schooled in gross budget schlock from various film genres. Watching cheesy films is an acquired taste, one not easily cultivated overnight. Even with some knowledge about who makes these types of films under my belt, I smooth stumble over major contributors to the clunker movie catalogue and wonder why I haven’t spent time with these delicacies before now. Roger Corman is my latest discovery. I admit I have heard of Corman before in reference to the spate of Vincent Impress terror classics that emerged in the 1960s, along with a few other films he made over the course of his career, but until now I never saw many of them. This guy is a giant of the gross budget film, producing or directing some 500 plus movies in the last forty years. He’s composed going strong as far as I know, and never limits his output to one particular genre; he’s made westerns, alarm, action, drama, and science fiction films with seeming ease. Moreover, according to the bio on this DVD, Corman helped originate the careers of numerous Hollywood bigwigs. If “Tremendous Abominable Mama” is any indication, I will continue to exercise a lot of time with this filmmaker’s projects in the advance future.

“Astronomical Abominable Mama” is a sort of feminist reinterpretation of those movies about Depression era highway outlaws; it’s “Bonny and Clyde” with lipstick and long tresses. Angie Dickinson plays Wilma McClatchie, a mule headed, dirt abominable Texas woman with a temper and a desire to better her conditions. Life hasn’t been easy for Wilma, not with two young daughters to raise in a ramshackle cabin out in the sticks. What’s a woman to do during these tough times? Why, strike up a relationship with local bootlegger Barney (Ample Willingham), of course! But when the wedding ceremony of one of Wilma’s daughters goes horribly awry, and Barney perishes in a shootout, Wilma is left holding several abominable bags. The Feds enthusiastic in bringing down Barney, led by Bonney (Richard Smith), now situation their sights on Wilma and her kids. Unfortunately, McClatchie plays true into their hands by taking over Barney’s illicit liquor operation. At some point, Wilma decides she’s had enough of being terrible and decides to hit the road in search of ill-gotten gains. She takes her two lascivious daughters, Polly (Robbie Lee) and Billy Jean (Susan Sennett), along for the hump. And why not? If you’re going to embark on a crime spree, you may as well manufacture it a family affair.

Problem is, Wilma cannot run the lure of sleazy, valid for nothing men. She first hooks up with wanted criminal Fred Diller (Tom Skerritt), and quick consummates their partnership the archaic fashioned procedure. Then conman extraordinaire William Baxter (William Shatner) enters the represent, and Wilma brings him into the fold as well. The resulting jealousy between Diller and Baxter, along with a most new relationship struck up between Diller and Wilma’s daughters, will certainly lead to hazardous tensions within the gang. Despite these internal stresses, Wilma continues to station the next mountainous pick up. The gang finally stumbles upon the perfect scheme; they will infiltrate a soiree thrown by a bunch of rich folks and kidnap one of them. McClatchie and her compatriots succeed in abducting Jane Kingston (Joan Prather), but the belief fouls up when Diller decides to fetch up halt and personal with the hapless heiress. Then Baxter pulls a hastily one. Then the cops and the G-men end in. Cue gunfire and crashing cars. Roll credits. Who will live and who will perish? Surprisingly, you’ll actually care about the retort to that put a question to while watching “Enormous Poor Mama.”

I’ve seen several Corman classics now, and “Substantial Dreadful Mama” ranks as one of the better ones. First, you’ve got a solid cast filling all the main roles. Dickinson not only looks astonishing, but she believably portrays a dreadful woman looking out for her absorb with nothing to lose. Tom Skerritt, an actor I’ve never liked in anything, actually manages to avoid annoying me as the murderous and jealous Fred Diller. As for Shatner, well, he’s probably at his most restrained here in a role requiring him to talk softly in oily tones. I got a kick out of the daughters. Both of them are so far over the top that you can’t aid but laugh at their antics. Be positive and withhold an gaze start for their dancing routine at the local veteran’s obtain together. Is anyone as dense as these two airheads? Guess so. Thankfully, the performances unfold against the second famous element that makes “Titanic Abominable Mama” a lot of fun, namely the film’s substantial atmosphere. While I imagine plenty of anachronisms plague the movie, I conception the 1930s props looked scheme better than I expected to scrutinize in a coarse budget relate. Finally, you really do secure an opportunity to gape Angie Dickinson select a few risks, so to sing, but you’ll miss it if you blink. Considering what the actress had to do in the role, I’m surprised she took the fragment when she was detached a player in Hollywood.

The DVD is standard a standard Roger Corman release. You regain the obligatory short interview with Leonard Maltin, and a bunch of trailers. A sequel to “Tremendous Terrible Mama,” unoriginally entitled “Expansive Awful Mama II,” came out roughly ten years later. While I haven’t seen the sequel, which apparently once again stars Angie Dickinson, I can say that the first film is a lot of fun. Tall performances, bountiful skin, a sleazy attitude, and wonderfully realistic atmosphere makes this Corman classic a must behold for B movie fans.

Big business can accomplish for outlandish bedfellows as is the case here, with the recently re-released film Great Dreadful Mama (1974) . Seems not too long ago The Walt Disney Corporation, through their Buena Vista Home Entertainment group, acquired the rights to release onto DVD some 400 Roger Corman films, including this one…if you’re not familiar with Roger Corman, he probably the single, largest producer of low-budget exploitation films in the last 50 years, features someone generally wouldn’t associate with the Walt Disney image. Produced by Corman, co-written by William W. Norton (White Lightning, I Dismember Mama) and Frances Doel (Deathsport, DinoCroc), and directed by Steve Carver (Lone Wolf McQuade), the film stars Angie Dickinson, who first made an impression on me as Sgt. Suzanne “Pepper” Anderson in the mid to behind 1970s television series “Police Woman”. Also appearing is William `The Shat’ Shatner (”Star Dart”, Kingdom of the Spiders), Tom Skerritt (MASH, Alien), Susan Sennett (The Candy Snatchers), Robbie Lee (Switchblade Sisters), Wonderful Willingham (The Last Portray Exhibit), Dick Miller (X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes), Tom Signorelli (The Cotton Club), Royal Dano (Killer Klowns from Outer Location), William O’Connell (Every Which Map But Loose), and Joan Prather, whom some may remember from the television series “Eight Is Enough”, as Janet McArthur Bradford.

The movie, situation in the depression era south, begins as we view three women, one older, two younger, heading to church. Seems new widower Wilma McClatchie (Dickinson) is taking her two daughters, Billy Jean (Sennett) and Polly (Lee) to the church as Polly done got herself engaged to a dirt farmer. The trio arrives, met by skeezy Uncle Barney (Willingham), a bootlegger by trade, shortly followed by the groom, showing up on the befriend of a truck…I must say, he’s quite the prize pig…anyway, Wilma seems sorrowful with her youngest daughter’s choice in men, and promptly puts the kibosh on the affair in the middle of the nuptials, as she decides she wants better for her girls. A advantageous, dilapidated fashioned ruckus ensues, and the three women, along with Uncle Barney, plug…accurate into a trap status by a lawman named Bonney (Miller), who’s been chasing Barney the bootlegger for some time. There’s a car shuffle, and Barney ends up with a terminal case of lead poisoning, to which Wilma decides to grasp over the business, thus beginning her life of crime. After the bottom falls out of her moonshine business (thanks to a injurious local sheriff), Wilma and her girls, who are about as ripe as Georgia peaches, fleece a bent preacher, and then score tangled up with a bank robbery, eventually taking on one of the robbers, named Fred Diller (Skerritt), as a partner, in more ways than one, if you know what I mean…homina, homina…Wilma, deciding it wise never to pull the same caper more than once, decides their next win will be a rush track, where they meet Captain Kirk…er, I mean William J. Baxter (Shatner), an upper-class hustler, resulting in another partnership, along with more of Ms. Dickenson doffing her clothes…position phasers on heavenly! Anyhoo, the group makes their method west, to California, with Sheriff Bonney hot on their heels, and Wilma comes up with one last ample derive, curious kidnapping a elegant, yet snooty, heiress (Prather) and ransoming her off for a million bucks…but jealousies threaten to saunter the group apart, along with their ever increasing notoriety.

I’ve seen plenty of exploitation films in my time, but few do them as well as Roger Corman. That’s not to say his touch is always gold, but he usually manages to finagle more than most of out so very miniature. I assume the one aspect about this production that elevates it to the upper echelons within the B movie realm is the strong and pleasurable cast, especially Ms. Dickenson, who, in her forties at the time, looked better than the females half her age appearing in this film, and that’s not to say they were hard on the eyes (the actress playing Polly seemed to have the most difficult time keeping her top on) . She provided an exceptionally strong, knowing, certain female character, one who knew what she wanted, and knew how to rep it…overall I really enjoyed this gangster drama with a feminine twist. Director Carver keeps narrative involving along well, which included predictable twists, appealing car straggle and gunplay sequences, along with a whole lot of freaky deaky…check out the scenes where Tom Skerritt’s character, after getting replaced as Wilma’s bed warmer by The Shat’s character, hooks up with her daughters, in a creepy. Southern fried threesome. And then there’s the scene reach the kill when Skerrit’s character is seduced by the kidnapped heiress (in an attempt by her to hasten), and The Shat creepily watches on from the doorway…but never alarm, The Shat does salvage his groove on in one, particularly revealing scene with Ms. Dickenson…thankfully, for myself at least, his nekkidness is covered up by her nekidness (actually, Ms. Dickenson has about three or four gratuitous nekkid scenes, if you’re looking for that kind of thing) . As far as the acting goes, its better than I expected, given the amount of experience in the cast, both in recognizable actors and character actors. And how could you not like a script that features lines like this? “Uncle Barney…was you trying to feel up my Mama? ” Oh Uncle Barney…whotta sleaze…the account is decent enough, as there seemed to be attempts to flesh out the various relationships, but it never really went to far which was pleasant because that really wasn’t something I was looking for in a movie like this…another aspect I really liked was the ending, as I plan it a substantial design to wrap things up.

The fullscreen (1.33:1) portray on this DVD release looks decent, but does reveal some signs of age. I’m betting the quality here is the same as the previous DVD release, so if you have that, and that’s all you care about, there probably isn’t distinguished reason to be sucked in by this `Special Edition’ release. The Dolby Digital 2.0 audio is decent enough, with no complaints. As far as extras, there is a featurette titled `Mama Knows Best: A Retrospective’ (14:38), that includes Corman, Dickenson, The Shat, and a number of people eager with the film discussing their experiences, all looking quite archaic and crusty. Also included is a commentary track with Corman and Dickenson, and a rough, current theatrical trailer.

Cookieman108

By the design, the film apparently did well enough to warrant a sequel titled Tremendous Terrible Mama II (1987), featuring Ms. Dickenson. I haven’t seen it, and doubt I will as the DVD, which is currently out of print, seems to be a bit over priced…savor them gougers…maybe Disney will re-release it, too…

Yeah, I know the title of this review is corny, but you have to admit that this is a magnificent nice boxed dwelling. It contains all three films from the “Jurassic Park” film series. The first film stands alone as one of the most impressive and progressive films of its time. It featured the best special effects of its time and each film builds on these effects. Let’s demolish each film down:

“Jurassic Park” Five stars

Perhaps the greatest dinosaur film ever made, “Jurassic Park” features shiny special effects, improbable acting and a tall plotline filled with suspense and anxiety. With Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Richard Attenborough heading up a dinky cast of characters including Samuel L. Jackson, this film is clear to be a winner in anyone’s collection. Briefly, this is the anecdote of a man who hopes to cash in on genetically bred dinosaurs by creating a sort of theme park that allows the average man to pick up an up-close-and-personal perceive at T-Rex, stegosaurus, and those harmful velociraptors. Of course, when a dinky group arrives to approve the park, things go awry. Highly recommended flick superb of multiple views.

“The Lost World” Three Stars

Buy,Download, Or Stream Jurassic Park Adventure Pack! Click Here

The weakest flick in the series. Jeff Goldblum reprises his role from the recent flick as he goes to a second island where the dinos from the novel film were allowed to grow before being shipped to the park. He’s there to encourage a slight group peek the dinosaurs in an environment untouched by man. Then a gang of hunters reach along in a last ditch difficulty to set the pocketbooks of the JP stockholders and bring a T-Rex serve to San Diego, CA to cash in. Unfortunately, this film was weighed down by eco-terrorism and diagram too many characters. Though the cast was very respectable, there objective wasn’t enough to work with here. Not great of many viewings, but it’s nice to have in the position.

“Jurassic Park III” Four stars

The best sequel and it saves the saga from the forgettable “Lost World.” This film brings succor Sam Neill’s character who gets conned into going support to the islands and ends up having to do the son of a wealthy and on-the-outs couple(played wittingly by William H. Macy and Tea Leoni) . It has a brief but amazing cameo by Laura Dern and takes a potshot at the purple dino, Barney. This film is the most wide begin of the bunch as it ditches the suspense of the recent and the morality legend of “Lost World” and goes straight for the action. It’s a extraordinary popcorn flick that works well for what it is. Definitely sterling of multiple viewings and definitely worth owning.

As a whole, this status is really extraordinary to hold. You gain all three films for less than the impress of two of them if you purchased each separately. The packaging is delicate frosty since it resembles the opening gates that are so eminent from the first film. There are plenty of extras for folks into that kind of stuff and two out of three of these films is worth watching more than once. The novel flick is timeless, “JPIII” is a rollercoaster swagger, and “The Lost World” is nice to have if you’re a completionist. Pick Up this spot today if you can’t gather enough of the dino-action and dino-horror that is the “Jurassic Park Adventure Pack.”

There have been a few other boxed sets that were a bit “glitzier”, with more bells and whistles. This Adventure Pack is simply designed and includes only the 3 discs in a tri-fold cardboard case within a hard cardboard box. You collect the 3 Collector’s Edition discs that were released individually over the years. The box itself is frosty, although the front flaps hang launch, with nothing to withhold them closed - kind of annoying, but not a tremendous deal. The discs are well-protected.

All 3 Jurassic Park movies for under $20.00 is quite improbable.

I can’t judge of a gargantuan enough cynic who can dismiss the charms of this movie. On my list, Paper Moon qualifies as one of the best comedies ever made, a mixture of childlike wonder and wry sarcasm, simultaneously tranquil in its record near (thanks to incredible understated camerawork) and intimate.

The script has no faults. Scenes hurtle forward at a brisk but never hyper swagger, every moment pregnant with character development and interesting dialogue. Ryan and Tatum O’Neal’s exchanges are pristine in their laughable timing, side-splitting and touching at the same time, effortlessly exploiting the chemistry between father and daughter. Their scenes in the car are so hilarious and endearing that you’d wish you could race with them for hours longer. And the film is rich in period flavour, from the stark black-and-white photography to the music to every character, evoking a sense of longing for a more innocent age without ever lapsing into downright nostalgia. The themes — the vagabond heart which can’t stand quiet, growing up, identity, friendship — ring as accurate today as they always did.

I saw this movie when I was quite young and it’s never lost its magical contain on me. Ogle it again even if you have already; you will peer something novel every time.

Adapted from the matchless new “Addie Pray” by Joe David Brown, Paper Moon is site in the Midwest/dustbowl during the Ample Depression/Roosevelt era. One-of-a-kind directing by Peter Bogdanovich, lovely unlit & white cinematography, a huge musical bag with snippets of customary time radio shows like Fibber McGee & Molly, Jack Benny and a host of others.

Real-life father & daughter duo, Ryan & Tatum O’Neil team up in this gem of a movie.

Ryan plays Moses Pray. A slick, sliver-tongued, gold toothed, travelling huckster & who always has a unusual con to turn up his sleeve such as door to door Bible selling to recently widowed women, bootlegging, short changing, and a “car swappin’ wrasslin’ match” between Moses and a very young Randy Quaid. Tatum plays Addie and garnered the coveted Oscar for her performance at the tender age of 10. Addie decides to rep in on many of the cons and becomes quite a prolific short change artist. Addie decides on her maintain to remove Moses’ last name and disappear with him under the guise as his daughter. In one of the best scenes in the movie they deal with whether or not Addie is Moses’ illegitimate daughter. That scene is station in a diner while drinking NeHi’s and eating Coney Islands. Addie is certain that Moses is, indeed, her father as she states, “We got the SAME jaw!” Moses responds and says, “I know a lady who has the jaw of a bullfrog but that doesn’t mean that she’s the damn things mother!” Addie asks Moses, “You meet my mamma in a barroom? ” (implying that her mamma was a prostitute) . Moses comes lawful aid asking Addie, “You believe that impartial because a man meets a woman in a barroom means that they bag a baby? ” Ryan and Tatum’s bantering repartee is natural, hilarious and touching all at the same time.

The Prays descend “prey” to a con played on them (well, Moses anyway) as the film progesses, by a hootchie-cootchie sideshow carnival dancer/prostitute named Miss Trixie Delight, adeptly played by Madelyn Kahn who was also nominated for an Oscar. The sneaky and a runt jealous Addie deals with Miss Trixie in her have time and also helps out Miss Trixie’s maid, Imogene and gives her money to return help to her family.

This is a sizable family movie with a touching father/daughter account to section. No nudity, few “cuss” words, and an all-around crowd pleaser whether you are 6 or 106. I don’t mind telling you that this is my popular movie of all time and I have viewed it upwards of 100 times. I aloof laugh, bawl, and go through a multitude of emotions no matter how many times a peruse the film. Certainly, a hallmark of a astronomical cinematic masterpiece! Delighted Watching!

“Tinker Bell” has gotten a lot of online commentary, most of it negative, so I wasn’t really angry to peruse my preview copy of this movie. I was VERY pleasantly surprised by what I saw. “Tinker Bell” is an savory movie, perfect for children and even bright for adults. Based upon what I’d read previously, I would not have gone to a theater to spy this; however, after watching it, I maintain this movie is capable of both titanic camouflage AND home entertainment viewing. Unfortunately, most of the banter has focused on the fact that Tinker Bell speaks. Personally, this is a minor point, as the animators have done a vast job of having Tinker Bell maintain her spunky nature and movements that we all know from “Peter Pan (2-Disc Platinum Edition) .”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Tinker Bell! Click Here

The tale is fairly simple; Tinker Bell arrives in Pixie Hollow, where all the Fairies have talents. It is discovered that (no surprise) Tinker Bell’s talent is “tinkering” or fixing things. However, in Tink’s concept, this is not very absorbing. She’d rather be one of the Fairies who gets to hold Spring to “the mainland” (aka London) . As you can imagine, Tink’s early time at Pixie Hollow is filled with figuring out who she really is and that she is honest as essential as the other fairies who have more glamorous talents. There is plenty of humor, emotion, and visual beauty that helps elevate what seems like an oft-told anecdote.

The animation is fantastic; although it is obviously computer generated, it is apparent that the level of the animators doing it is such that they focus on camera movements, lighting, color, and emotional nuances rather than honest the basics. Level-headed, the characters do smooth have somewhat of a doll-like/mechanical quality. The movement and facial emoting is a tremendous improvement over some of the early computer animation, but it does tranquil have a itsy-bitsy scheme to go.

There is also a obliging cast slow the scenes, giving the voices to these keen characters: Anjelica Huston (Queen Clarion), Lucy Liu (Silvermist), America Ferrera (Fawn), Kristin Chenoweth (Rosetta), Kathy Najimy (Minister of Summer), and my common, Jane Horrocks as the sassy Fairy Mary. The Celtic-inspired bag by Joel McNeely is also scrumptious and the perfect accompaniment to the film.

The extras include:

* Tinker Trainer: Hone your skills as a Tinker Fairy in this activity

* Magical guide to Pixie Hollow: Peep the Aged Realm of Fairies with Tinker Bell

* Ever Wonder: Look how Fairies attach the “wonder” in natural wonders. Combining special effects with live action, you are “shown” how grass grows between the cracks in the sidewalk, etc. A cute exiguous featurette.

* Creating Pixie Hollow: Peep how the filmmakers created this magical realm.

* All-new music video, “Cruise To Your Heart,” by Disney Channel’s Selena Gomez.

* Deleted scenes include optional introductions by Bradley Raymond (director) and Jeannine Roussel (producer) : “Queen Clarion’s Pixie Dust,” “Fairies Venture to the Mainland,” “Becoming a Garden Fairy,” “Tinker Bell’s Tinkering Talents,” “Vidia Tricks Tinker Bell,” “Fairies Deny Tinker Bell’s Importance”

While palatable, they are not really missed from the film.

* Sneak previews, most notably the Blu-ray version of 1940’s “Pinocchio.” It looks wonderful! Being released March 2009.

Blu-ray irregular content:

* Disney BD Live: Connect with Family & friends through this innovative movie-watching experience

Movie specs: on Blu-ray, 1080 HD/1:78:1 video, with English 5.1 Uncompress & English 5.1 Dolby Digital audio.

Saw this a week ago in Los Angeles at the El Capitan Theater. If you’re expecting a Pixar caliber sage - perceive elsewhere. If you’re looking for Pixar artistry, this doesn’t quite near those dizzying heights. But if you’re after quality Disney entertainment for the cramped ones in your family (especially the female ones) you can’t really do mighty better. I have a four year conventional girl, and this was the first movie (of three that we’ve seen together on the titanic cover) that she absolutely loved. She enjoyed Wall-E, but grand of it went over her head. Horton Hears a Who, was also palatable and slightly too manic - but again, a lot of the wry humor and topical stuff she missed completely.

This movie had her enthralled from beginning to slay - and I have to say was far less than painful for me to peek as well. Now this isn’t a ringing endorsement that could be afforded a Toy Epic 1 or 2 or Cars (which are substantial films for BOTH parent and child to appreciate) but I have to say this film completely outclasses the Disney straight to DVD sequels that I’ve seen (dreck like Cinderella 3 and Alladin 2 - YUCK) and simply blows away the Barbie movies (which though excruciating to observe at times, do captivate my minute girl and are surprisingly pro-female) .

Tinkerbelle, ultimately, is not a film for the young and young at heart - as the colossal Disney movies are; but it is leaps and bounds above the usual straight to DVD product that they have been shilling for the past decade.

The visuals are also light years beyond anything previously released in a straight to video format, and occupy up to and even exceed the previous Disney CG features such as Chicken Small or Meet the Robinsons.

If you’ve got a 3 to 8 year mature limited girl - this is a must accept. Young boys will savor it too, there’s more than enough to preserve interest.

My title explains a lot about my feelings on this DVD. When I ask, “Where’s the rest? ” I’m saying that this ISN’T the COMPLETE first season, but only half of it. This is one of the reasons why I rate it four stars instead of five; now I don’t know where I can find the rest of the first season, without buying the individual volumes. This fact wasn’t sure when I checked this out, so I’m making it obvious now: THIS IS NOT THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON! Oh, and I should warn you that this DVD comes in a cheap box, as my box broke in the mail; my discs are okay for apt now, but they were loose in a box that I’m not obvious how to repair… Now that all of that is off my chest, I shall do my first grading system on the exhibit itself. Deem schoolastically, A+ being the best and F- being the worst.

Graphics B+: I’m rating loosely on the graphics because this is a cartoon; therefore, fair about anything goes. The characters are done nice, but the backgrounds lacked consistency. One petite, you have a background distinguished like the characters, slightly cartoonish; the next itsy-bitsy you have a background that looks like somebody’s report on their camera… This really clashed with everything else once or twice; you’ll probably behold this the most during the episode of “Unfair Ball” when the manager speaks to the guy who manages the field. The people in the audience then glimpse like erroneous cardboard cutouts of the sincere thing… The designers should have stuck with the cartoonish looking crowd.

Characters A: This grade is for the characters themselves; how well their personalities were developed, how likable and diverse they are, how often they appeared, and how cessation they reach to their videogame counterparts in terms of personality and mutter. They did a vast job with the voices; my only complaints are that Sonic’s deny was a touch too high, and Chris sounded like a girl… and for the parents, many of the characters have high pitched assure (Cream for example) . If this sort of thing aggravates you, then fetch something else to watch; I didn’t study this but my mom did. Now have in mind that this is only half of the first season (it goes all the scheme to Beating Eggman Section II), so I don’t know how many times the characters actually appeared during the season; I’m grading strictly on the half of the shows I have seen. Speaking of being seen, Eggman was seen a small too mighty. One episode is glowing great about him, and it got a puny insensible after awhile. He, like Sonic, was also virtually seen in every episode. The gripping thing about him, I’d like to impress, is that he picks robots randomly with a slot machine-like thing. It drove me crazy, hoping that the last slot would have a lemon, or something random, rather than confirmation on which robot he should exhaust (does that eventually happen? ) . Sonic was also seen a lot, but he didn’t drive me nearly as crazy Eggman. It did derive a exiguous lifeless that he ALWAYS is the one to achieve the day; also, most of the time you contemplate him napping on Chris’ roof (how did he even score up there to commence with? ) . All of the characters are lovable in their bear draw (even Eggman if he’s stop to someone joking at him), very diverse in personalities, and pertain to the videogames comely well. My last complaints are that though you survey Immense (the cat fishing with a frog in his lap) in the first episode, he doesn’t direct or even exhibit up again after that. I’m positive that left half of the viewers wondering who he even is. Shadow doesn’t even execute an appearance, they play the same exclusive sexy music each time Rouge shows up and carries out a mission (which isn’t grand), and there’s one episode about Amy who has such a mushy crush on Sonic that it made me sick (The “Last Resort” episode) …

Plot and Details A-: Magnificent piquant region. For the time being there’s a miniature too distinguished fighting (don’t disaster, nothing with blood or anything), but I’m not counting off majorly for that because this is the beginning (how else does one secure people’s attention? ) . For the most fragment, many of the storylines are cause by putting characters with clashing personalities together; thus producing quite droll results. What I counted off the most for was lack of detail; whenever the characters did fight, it wasn’t believable that they actually got distress because they weren’t scathed at all. I’m not saying I want blood, but something more along the lines of pokemon injuries. Those who have watched the pokemon cartoons will know what I’m talking about; every time the characters got wound, a “number” designate would appear on them, or they got a diminutive dirty, or even had redness for stuff like swelling. Again, I’m not saying a like seeing people hurt; what I AM saying, is that I want a more believable fight in a cartoon (I’m sorry, even Tom and Jerry received dark eyes and bandages when they were damage) . The fact that Sonic was hit in the face by a robot and not even scratched, is impartial not believable enough for me.

Overall B+: There aren’t any bonus features (besides previews and internet stuff; not really bonus), it comes in a cheap box, and it’s not even the COMPLETE first season. If you decide to assume this, be warned that you’re really only buying it for the cartoon material; which can actually be a really expedient reason to capture it. However, if you can score something that has a dinky better boxing, bonus features, and is actually complete, then you’re wasting your time here.

I was living in Japan when Sonic X was first created, so I got to look it in its novel Japanese glory long before America got ahold of it. Unfortunately, 4Kids Entertainment sunk their claws into it, and if you don’t know, 4Kids is sinful for butchering anime shows for American audiences. They created an annoying opening song for the American release, as well as casting terrible jabber actors. And of course, they’ve edited scenes and dialogue throughout the whole series for no apparent reason. 4Kids doesn’t occupy in preserving the Japanese culture presented in anime; rather, they re-write it to appeal to American audiences. It’s the case of making money over making quality - 4Kids wants more Americans to be able to picture to the media so they can sell more of it to us. But in doing so, they leave us ignorant of the current culture the media emerged from.

Sonic X is my current of all the Sonic cartoon series released to date, but I refuse to examine this hacked-up American version (or any work of 4Kids for that matter) . I’ll stick to watching Sonic X in Japanese with subtitles. Besides, Sonic is originally a Japanese creation, so it feels more authentic to be watching it in Japanese.

Just about anybody reading this review has probably seen “This is Spinal Tap” as many times as the band has changed drummers. What you really want to know is whether the DVD extras are worth the effect. YES. Theatrical trailers about cheese rolling festivals, David St. Hubbins with strait hair in an early short that eventually evolved into the film, Pick Reiner begging people to present the movie in their theaters, deleted scenes that do and elaborate the chilly sores the band keeps ending up with, and the bloody demise of Janine (well, we can dream can’t we? ) all this and more can be yours for the improper outrageous notice of…whatever. Anyway, if you’re a Tap fan and you’ve got a DVD player, win this disc. If you’re a Tap fan and you’ve got this disc, pick up a DVD player. If you’re a Tap fan without the disc or a DVD player, talk your rich buddy with all the cold home theater equipment into buying this disc, then peek it at his residence and eat all the potato chips in the house. If you’re not a Tap fan, you can net a copy of “The Sound of Music” around here somewhere, I’m glorious clear. I’ve always concept of Derrick Smalls as kind of a short hairy version of Julie Andrews anyway.

Superb (m/r) ockumentary of the semi-fictitious band “Spinal Tap”, made up of Michael McKean (”Lenny”, soul mate of Squigy, on the TV series “Laverne & Shirley”), Christopher Guest (actor/director of “Waiting for Guffman”), Harry Shearer (performs voices of 22 different characters on “The Simpsons”), and a random selection of ever-changing drummers. The movie is a tongue-in-cheek parody of washed-up hard rock bands that quiet consider they are God’s gift to the universe. The inspired idiocy borders on genius at times, lending weight to Michael’s observation that there is a “comely line between dull and clever”.

The DVD is simply improbable. For starters, everything is in character. From the style of the main menu title cloak, to the menu voice-overs by the band, and extending through all of the extra material included on the DVD, the personas of the band (and the fictitious director as well) are maintained with perfect consistency.

What makes this all the more unbelievable is the shear quantity of extras on the disk. For starters, there is about an hour of “deleted” scenes provided. In addition, there are numerous music videos, TV commercials (counterfeit I presume??? ), and trailers. And as if that weren’t enough, there is also a commentary track throughout the entire film with the band members, completely in character, being as hilariously idiotic as they are in the film. The Spinal Tap commentary track is easily the most involving commentary in my extensive DVD library.

The DVD medium is effect to gorgeous utilize as well. Menu transitions are computer animations inspired by some of the film’s funniest moments. Each menu plays a different “Tap” song, giving you access to a decent percentage of the sound track. And, unprejudiced as importantly, the animations are not overdone; the menus are smooth easy to consume, and the transitions only choose a few seconds.

Overall, this DVD is a huge value, and provides a titanic amount of material not available in the VHS version. If you are a Tap fan, or would like to be, you NEED this DVD!

Breakheart Pass is a suprisingly advantageous mystery/thriller from a genre you might not normally expect; a western. Based on the unusual by Alistair MacLean, the movie begins with a screech loaded with troops and medicine stopping in a tiny town called Myrtle City. The allege takes on two passengers, John Deakim, a gambler accused of kill, and Nathan Pearce, a U.S. Marshal. It is revealed the announce is traveling to Fort Humboldt to hiss some remarkable needed medical supplies. But soon, dumb bodies originate appearing, and we realize something more contemptible is going on. I was suprised by how noteworthy I enjoyed this movie. There are enough site twists and suprises to hold you entertained, and several top-notch action scenes. Throw in a very catchy Jerry Goldsmith win and how can you lose?

I’ve said this in other reviews of Bronson movies, but moviegoers often bewitch Charles Bronson is a one-trick pony, that he can’t play anything other than his Paul Kersey Death Wish character, but here is another role that proves otherwise. Bronson plays John Deakim, a gambler accused of cancel who knows more than he is letting on during the screech trek. Ben Johnson co-stars as U.S. Marshal Pearce, a deputy marshal who finds his blueprint onto the order with Deakim. The strong supporting cast includes Richard Crenna as Governor Fairchild, the governor of the unnamed territory, Jill Ireland as Marica Scoville, a young woman visiting her father, Charles Durning as O’Brien, the railroad represenative, Ed Lauter as Major Claremont, the officer in charge, and Bill McKinney as Peabody, a travelling reverend. The DVD offers a aesthetic nice looking widescreen presentation and trailers. Don’t consider this book by its shroud. I didn’t believe a execute mystery western on a thunder sounded very satisfactory, but I really enjoyed this movie. So for a agreeable mystery/thriller western with a stout cast, a advantageous Goldsmith acquire, and plenty of twists and turns, check out Breakheart Pass!

This is a very intruiging and effective action thriller on board a bid. Charles Bronson star’s as John Deakin who is arrested for cheating at poker. But Bronson in reality is an undercover agent. The utter is occupied by Richard Crenna who is (Governor Fairchild) , Jill Ireland who is on her design to visiting her father , Ben Johnson who is a U.S. Marshall and Ed Lauter who is the Army Major. The spot of this film is this lisp is carrying medical supplies to an army outpost in Utah and also carries many army soldiers who are to replace soldiers who have been wiped out by a medical disease. However as People begin disappearing and lifeless bodies turn up Bronson begins snooping around and discovers a status that is in reality a intention for the insist to obtain to the Utah outpost so that awaiting Indians can hold over boxes of medical supplies but in reality the boxes possess rifles and ammunition and there is a group of outlaws also waiting at the outpost who conception to capture Gold and Silver which happens to be distributed through that particular outpost. There are some holes in the set but the film is chunky of action and suspense along with a terrific musical procure. The graceful snow covered landscapes for which the affirm travels through is improbable. Mammoth acting from Bronson ,Jill Ireland who was never one of the greatest leading ladies so to negate actually does a very genuine job here, Robert Tessier who Plays the Lead Outlaw (Calhoun) is solid and Ed Lauter really standsout and he has always been an underated actor who has never really gotten his Due.There is a Fight scene fascinating Bronson and Venerable Boxing Champion Archie Moore who plays the train’s Chef . This fight scene Between Bronson and Moore takes set on top of the consuming disclose covered with snow and is without a doubt one of the greatest fight scenes you will ever sight.

I don’t know who Paramount is trying to lure into buying this situation. But for what it’s worth, this is a handsome sweet package.

In case you’re unusual with the “Star Run” franchise, this state includes the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th movies. The reason it’s tagged as a “trilogy” is because each film starts almost immediately where the previous one left off. Also, these are three of the most current of the series.

I could talk forever about these movies, but I contemplate the principal thing to remember is that all of them will maintain up if you’re not a fan of the franchise.

“Star Lope II: The Wrath of Khan” is a fan-favorite for many reasons, one of them that the villain is a character from the unusual 1960s TV expose. But, if you’ve never seen Khan’s appearance from the TV point to, I assume you’ll unruffled gather a vast thrill seeing him ooze of cool vengeance. Admiral Kirk’s struggle to face life & death — both literally and spiritually — is clear to please anyone who enjoys a favorable character drama. The drama and relationships between the characters are what drive the fable from initiate to accomplish, and you don’t need to be a fan to bask in the connections. The place battles are smooth a treat even after over 25 years, and the ending scenes are incredibly great.

“Star Dawdle II” is one of my approved movies of the 80s, and I’m distinct I’d say that even if I wasn’t a fan of this franchise. It’s an expertly-crafted sci-fi action/drama, and earns its acclaimed situation.

__________________________________________________

“Star Scamper III: The Search For Spock” is probably the least approved from this trilogy, but it’s serene a honorable one, in my idea. Even though non-Trekkers may be confused by a few of the chronicle developments (notably Spock’s Vulcan culture), I bear this one holds its possess simply because of its production merits. James Horner’s music reuses tracks from “Star Slouch II”, but has a few haunting melodies specifically for this installment. The action is pleasant, and kinda brutal when the Klingons remove decisive action. And I acquire the premise though-provoking…try to recover a resurrected companion who’s stranded on a planet about to explode, while you’re being hunted by ruthless, greedy warriors!

“Star Swagger III” will shriek well enough to newcomers, but it’s definitely tailored more for the familiar audience.

__________________________________________________

“Star Trot IV: The Voyage Home” is positive to be a friendly wobble for anybody. Our heroes must recede support in time to recover an aged species to set aside the planet. Why and how humpback whales are supposed to order an alien to conclude ruining our O-zone layer is beyond me. But somehow it all makes sense, and it’s not the reason to invest in this film.

In addition to the usual merits we leer for in “Star Slide” movies (astronomical music, engrossing special effects, and fun characters), this one is faltout hilarious! Try to imagine how seven 23rd Century explorers (one of them an alien) attempt to seize two tremendous mammals when their spaceship has lost most of its energy after their time proceed. You got misused profanity, Wintry War tension, old-fashioned technology, and contemporary music. But rather than being a farce, the movie is sizable fun.

“Star Waddle IV” may not be my popular of the series, but I’m certain it’s the one that everyone will like. It stimulates your brain, uplifts your spirit, and forces some strong laughs.

__________________________________________________

To my knowledge, some of the bonus extras that were released on the 2-disc sets assist in 2001-2003 won’t be on this “Motion Describe Trilogy”. Instead, there will be a current goodies.

The main reason I want to check this situation out is that Ronald D. Moore provides a track on “Star Shuffle III”. Moore wrote some of the best episodes for “The Next Generation” TV present, was the driving force gradual the unusual “Battlestar Galactica” series, and has proven to be an racy speaker through his podcast commentaries.

But that’s objective the fanboy in me. I don’t peep considerable of a reason to purchase this station if you already contain the 2-disc releases of these movies. But if you’ve never owned “Star Plod II, III, or IV” — or never SEEN them — then this is a safe device to go.

What’s agreeable about it: contains the 3 best “Glide” films that feature the novel cast. The portray is slightly better than the 2-disc DVDs of these films, which looked tall. The Dolby Digital EX sound is a nice improvement over the previous releases.

What’s terrible about it: Wrath of Khan is the theatrical nick, whereas the 2-disc DVD was the Director’s Carve. NONE of the fabulous bonus features from the 2-disc releases are included with this place, and the all-new features are mostly a bust. The visual effects featurette in this status is a genuine letdown, as it covers the first 6 movies in 13 minutes, so there is no time for any large detail on the FX work.

Bottom line: The transfers, both video and audio, are as proper as DVD gets. If that’s what you are after, or if you don’t have the out of print 2-disc releases, this should do pleasing.

Wow…what can I say? The animation has never looked better with this DVD transfer…the sound quality is perfect and allows one to actually hear the background rep with so grand clarity it isn’t even silly. To me, this is one of the coolest anime I’ve ever seen. Many anime reviewers of this day and age can’t stand it and that’s only because they can’t perceive anything that might be more than a few years traditional. Well, that shouldn’t be the case because this is a mammoth anime title and has some very pulse pounding moments of high octane action and adventure. The animation does indicate some of it’s age by some of today’s standards but that’s to be expected of a exhibit this experimental made 20 years ago. This WAS one of the first OVA’s after all. So, in essence, if you like action, adventure, cute girls, awe elements straight out of an H.P. Lovecraft unusual and giant robots thrown in for valid measure than this is the title for you. Give it a shot, maintain an begin mind and you’ll probably be pleased this as distinguished as I have over the years.

First of all this was the first suitable anime OVA I ever watched. I adore this OVA series. It was the first all Japanese/no subtitles video my friend and I had imported. I remember reading ANIMAG for the translation while we watched. Modern fans may not devour Iczer-1 due to its 20 year venerable age, but at the time of notion, it was a remove on Japanese live action done anime style. There are some “in jokes” like Camille Bidan and Fa Yuiry from Z Gundam and Tetsuo from Akira watching the landing of Delos Theta in the city. The apprehension side is gives you tough gory moments. Yes the girls are cute! And, yes Nagisa is annoying at times. But that is what makes it valid. The sound track from Michiaki Watanabe fits in perfectly. Yes its 80’s sounding, but it WAS the 80’s ;)

If you have seen Iczer-3 and hated it, give Iczer-1 a chance. As Toshihiro Hirano said it in an interview : “…As far as I’m concerned, the anecdote ends at the extinguish of the video …Even if we drew the designs and art seriously, there’s no diagram there could be a legitimate sequel in the world of Iczer.
